When I vote for City Council, I vote for someone who has proven their commitment to Renton. It’s clear to me that the best candidate for the City Council position 5 is Ed Prince
While national and state elections tend to garner the most attention, it is often the most local that will have the quickest and most dramatic impact on our daily lives.
As long as I have known Ed, he has always had a smile on his face. It truly takes a lot to bring him down.
The name Mary Alice Heuschel will sound familiar because she is currently serving as our own superintendent of the Renton School District. She is recognized as a national expert in the field of education and most recently selected as the 2011 Washington state superintendent of the year. Her discernment and foresight of the big picture of issues facing our community is unmatched. She acts with precision and speaks with conviction and authority.
After meeting with both candidates for Valley Medical Center Commissioner, I have decided to endorse Paul Joos, M.D. As the third candidate in the primary, I attended several candidate forums and interviews and I found Dr. Joos to be the best-qualified candidate for this important position.
Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel (EdD) is running for the vacant seat on the Valley Medical Center (Public Hospital District No. 1) Board. She will be on the ballot in November. Mary Alice has strong skills in executive leadership. These are what are needed on the hospital board, as it is a citizens management board, concerned with budgets, personnel and cost control, not with medical issues.
My husband and I have lived in Renton for more than a decade and are members of the “Next Curve.” We genuinely love Renton —this city is unique, we believe, in the depth of dedication we see in its community members and leaders.
Your endorsement of Robin Jones for Renton City Council, Position 5 (Renton Reporter, Sept. 30, 2011) reinforces my belief that Mr. Jones is the right choice for the position.
I want to thank the Seattle Seafair Clowns for putting together a special event at Heritage Park where they provided free school supplies.
Hazelwood Elementary has been part of the Safe Routes to Schools grant to encourage and support “active commuting” on the part of school children and families.
I would like to thank all of the people who supported me. I really thought my message of trying to save the library, dealing with the financial realities of annexations and improving transparency within the city would have encouraged more people to get their ballots in the mail. My message just didn’t get out to enough voters I guess. While disappointed, I am happy to be part of the democratic process.
I was disappointed to see that candidate Mary Alice Heuschel was able to have two lengthy letters published in both the Kent and Renton Reporters.
Ed Prince deserves our support as the future Councilmember of Renton.
As a retired first sergeant from the Army, I wish to thank you for the articles about needy veterans you have published in the last couple of editions.
I wanted to make my voice heard in support of Ed Prince, who is running for City Council Position 5.
I’ve worked in Renton for more than five years but I have been a Renton resident for only a short time, so this will be my first time voting for my City council, and I’m supporting Ed Prince for the position.
As a mother of two children and a proud resident of the Cascade neighborhood, I cannot be more excited about the opportunity to have Ed Prince represent the citizens of Renton as a member of our City Council.
I am writing this letter in supporting Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel, as a candidate for Valley Medical Center commissioner.
Superintendent Mary Alice Heuschel should be spending her time on Renton Schools, not a hospital commissioner campaign. With one failing school, a large budget deficit, and a $242,000 (including benefits) salary, clearly her priorities should remain with the schools.
The ballots have been sent to the voters for the Aug. 16 primary and I urge you to join me in voting Ed Prince for Renton City Council
