Mark Martinez concedes election

I would like to thank all of the people who supported me. I really thought my message of trying to save the library, dealing with the financial realities of annexations and improving transparency within the city would have encouraged more people to get their ballots in the mail. My message just didn’t get out to enough voters I guess. While disappointed, I am happy to be part of the democratic process.

I saw myself as a regular Joe trying to make a difference in my community. I was never really political and didn’t plan on running for office until I saw how few people put their name on the ballot. Trying to break in to small town politics was a bit more difficult than I thought. But I’ve met a lot of people who are happy to see new people getting involved.

Going forward I will continue to be involved at my kids schools, scouts and the VFW. I’m taking my family camping and will hopefully spend some time in my woodshop. I will keep my ear to the ground looking for new opportunities and continue to advance in professionally. Good luck to the two remaining candidates. Thanks again to my supporters, especially my wife and kids and don’t be too shocked if you see my name in the future.

Thanks,

Mark Martinez
