Vote for appropriate skills

Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel (EdD) is running for the vacant seat on the Valley Medical Center (Public Hospital District No. 1) Board. She will be on the ballot in November. Mary Alice has strong skills in executive leadership. These are what are needed on the hospital board, as it is a citizens management board, concerned with budgets, personnel and cost control, not with medical issues.

Many of you will recall that Mary Alice is superintendent of schools in Renton, a job that she has held for five years. In 2011 she was selected as Washington State Superintendent of the Year for her performance in that job. She went on to be selected as one of the top four in the national contest. People ask me if she is giving up her superintendent’s job. The answer is no! Others ask how she will have time to do both.  She will have time because the commissioner’s job is very much a part-time position.

Mary Alice is committed to keeping Valley Medical Center as a public hospital, a status under which it is successfully grown into a  hospital of national reputation. Also she will work very hard to keep the recent alliance with UW Medicine in place and get it implemented. It will result in even better and more far reaching medical services to the people who are served by Valley Medical Center.

Mary Alice brings us the right skills and great enthusiasm.  Vote for Mary Alice:  She will serve you well
