Nov. 6

Pop Up Food Pantry at the Renton Downtown Library: From 3-5 p.m., Sustainable Renton is distributing free food in response to the pause in federal SNAP benefits. Bring a reusable green bag and shop for household needs. Located at 100 Mill Avenue South.

Veterans Day Dance at Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center: From 5:30-7:30 p.m., all veterans and non-veterans 50+ are welcome to celebrate Veterans Day with music, dancing and light refreshments. Space is limited and price of entry is $5. Sign up at rentonwa.gov/register under course #26557 or call 425-430-6633. Located at 211 Burnett Avenue North.

Nov. 8

Fireside Community Night at Sustainable Renton Community Garden: Dress warm and bring your own chair to sit around a bonfire with your neighbors. Light beverages will be served along with s’more kits for a small donation. Smoking Monkey Pizza will provide their soup cart with food available. Runs from 3-7 p.m. at 11840 148th Avenue South.

Nov. 11

The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 Business Meeting: The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall, 3224 NE 12th Street, in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower. All veterans welcome. Most vets eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans organization and the prime driver of the original G.I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans and has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans, and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth.

Nov. 20

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee, camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 Northeast 12th Street).

Nov. 21-22

Holiday Bazaar at Renton Community Center: From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, join the Renton Parks and Recreation Department for the annual Holiday Bazaar. Known for its high-quality artists, crafters, and vendors showcasing their most recent and exceptional talent, items at the bazaar are designed, created, upcycled, and displayed by local artists and crafters from Renton and the greater Puget sound region. The two-day event attracts approximately 7,000 visitors. Admission is free to shoppers. Located at 1715 Maple Valley Highway.

Nov. 22

Gobble Wobble Walk at Downtown Renton: From 2-5 p.m., with VIP session from 1-2 p.m. at Drum Roll Wine, enjoy downtown Renton, local businesses, wine, all-ages activities and a food drive. For more information on signing up and prices, visit rentondowntown.com.

Dec. 5

Clam Lights Opening Night: Join Renton Parks and Recreation for Clam Lights Opening Night at 6:15 p.m. at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. Photos with Santa from 6:30-8:30 p.m., singalong from 7:15-8:15 p.m., Rainier Yacht Club’s Parade of Boats at 7:45 p.m. and Argosy Christmas Ship at 8:20 p.m. Enjoy the illuminations daily from Dec. 6 through Jan. 4 from 5-9 p.m. at 1201 Lake Washington Boulevard North.

Dec. 7

K9 Candy Cane 5K Fun Run at Renton Community Center: Hosted by Renton Parks and Recreation, this 5K Fun Run (furry friends welcome!) will begin at 9:15 a.m. The course is along the Cedar River Trail. The Annual Pet Food Drive will also be taking place and accepting donations. If registered before 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, participants will receive a hooded sweatshirt. Registration is $30 for ages 4-17 and $40 for ages 18 and up. Sign up at rentonwa.gov/k9register. Located at 1715 Maple Valley Highway in Renton.

Saturdays

The Table: A Free Community Meal at Luther’s Table: In partnership with Reach Meal Coalition and Sustainable Renton, all are welcome to this no sign-up, no cost warm meal while connecting with neighbors and community members. Volunteers are welcome to help with meal preparation, cooking, set-up, serving meals, welcoming guests, clean-up. sorting and prepping ingredients for future meals. Located at 419 South 2nd Street.

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together.
