Drag Queen Story Time returns to Brewmaster’s Taproom

Local drag performer Kara Sutra brings yee-haw fun and excitement to Drag Queen Story Time at Brewmaster’s Taproom in Renton, where she read a variety of books to a small group of children on Aug. 26.

Usually scheduled for the second Saturday of every month, this was a make-up Story Time after an anti-LGBTQ+ bomb threat on Aug. 12 forced the temporary shut-down of Brewmaster’s and subsequent cancellation of the book-reading and bingo events. No bombs were found on the premises and owner Marley Rall quickly announced a make-up event.

Some of the books that were read to the children were “Three Little Kittens” by Paul Galdone, “Our Rainbow” by Little Bee Books and “A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo” by Jill Twiss.

“If I’ve learned anything from queer history, it’s that we are resilient,” Kara said after the make-up Story Time was announced.
