I have been a longtime resident of Renton and I vote in the City of Renton. Over the years, I have worked on a number of different campaigns. I am a Democrat and have been a member of the 11th District Democrats for years as well.
In response to the letter to the editor (These are my choices, Oct. 21, 2011) that was written in last week’s issue. I would like to respond to statements that were made claiming that I did not have one good thing to say about our present downtown library and that I thought our diverse community would be better served by a new smaller library located at the Big 5 site.
I have been paying rapt attention to the Renton council candidates and their stances. Here is who I am voting for and why: Phyllis Forister, Robin Jones, and Sarah Sanoy-Wright.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND CARE FOR RENTON
The above words show what is needed by the Renton City Council for leadership into the future for Renton. There are three people who can fulfill those requirements; they are the best opportunity to fill the needs on the Renton City council.
I take real exception to Robin Jones calling Ed Prince the product of “cronyism.” The fact is that Renton will support anyone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and work for the community.
As a long-time member of the hospital district and patient of Paul Joos, M.D., I am convinced he is the best candidate for commissioner on the Valley Medical Center Board.
In the upcoming election, voters in the greater Renton area are voting for a commissioner for Public Hospital District No. 1 (Valley Medical Center). The strongest candidate, who will protect the
Robin Jones will bring superb leadership skills to the City Council.
Your endorsement in the Sept. 30 Renton Reporter regarding the upcoming Renton City Council elections were very informative. I would like to comment on the race for council Position No. 7.
The recent article which describes Benson Hill Elementary’s role in the incident in which kindergartners were kicked off the school bus far from their daycare did not address the responsibility of the bus driver and the transportation departmen
I am a veteran and I can often be found at the VFW or the Eagles downtown. I am voting for Robin Jones for Renton City Council. I recognize the value of Robin’s contributions to our community and to our country as a longtime military officer.
When I vote for City Council, I vote for someone who has proven their commitment to Renton. It’s clear to me that the best candidate for the City Council position 5 is Ed Prince
While national and state elections tend to garner the most attention, it is often the most local that will have the quickest and most dramatic impact on our daily lives.
As long as I have known Ed, he has always had a smile on his face. It truly takes a lot to bring him down.
The name Mary Alice Heuschel will sound familiar because she is currently serving as our own superintendent of the Renton School District. She is recognized as a national expert in the field of education and most recently selected as the 2011 Washington state superintendent of the year. Her discernment and foresight of the big picture of issues facing our community is unmatched. She acts with precision and speaks with conviction and authority.
After meeting with both candidates for Valley Medical Center Commissioner, I have decided to endorse Paul Joos, M.D. As the third candidate in the primary, I attended several candidate forums and interviews and I found Dr. Joos to be the best-qualified candidate for this important position.
Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel (EdD) is running for the vacant seat on the Valley Medical Center (Public Hospital District No. 1) Board. She will be on the ballot in November. Mary Alice has strong skills in executive leadership. These are what are needed on the hospital board, as it is a citizens management board, concerned with budgets, personnel and cost control, not with medical issues.
My husband and I have lived in Renton for more than a decade and are members of the “Next Curve.” We genuinely love Renton —this city is unique, we believe, in the depth of dedication we see in its community members and leaders.
Your endorsement of Robin Jones for Renton City Council, Position 5 (Renton Reporter, Sept. 30, 2011) reinforces my belief that Mr. Jones is the right choice for the position.
I want to thank the Seattle Seafair Clowns for putting together a special event at Heritage Park where they provided free school supplies.
