Renton parkrun celebrates its first birthday with a free 5k

The following an invitation from Renton Parkrun:

If you haven’t heard yet, this Saturday, November 17th, is a very special day at Renton parkrun. It’s our first birthday! In the year since our very first parkrun, we’ve had the enormous pleasure of running, walking and talking with everyone in the community, and sharing our love for the beautiful Cedar River Trail.

In that time more than 788 individuals have attended an event in Renton with visitors from all over the world including Japan, South Africa, Australia and the UK. Our wonderful community has volunteered 495 times and we’ve recorded 495 personal bests, with participants ranging from age 4 to age 79. Along the way we’ve celebrated 4 kids reaching their 10 parkruns milestones, 2 volunteers reaching their 25 volunteer milestones, 1 Person reaching their 50 parkruns milestone, and even 1 wedding. It’s been a big year for all of us and we look forward to doing it again in 2019!

This weekend we’ll be celebrating this huge milestone with cake, a few raffle prizes from our primary financial supporter Peak Sports and Spine Physical Therapy, and of course another free 5k run! Bring your friends, family, dog, running shoes, and best smile — you’re going to need it! And don’t forget your barcode!

We will begin our run brief at 8:45am with the run starting at 9:00am at Riverview Park. Plan on arriving a little bit earlier to find parking and make sure you’re don’t miss our special announcements. Additional parking can be found nearby at the Renton Community Center (a 15 min walk), the Maplewood Roadside Park (5 minute walk), and Maplewood park (8 minute walk).

If you’d rather help than walk or run, we will need a few extra volunteers Saturday morning and we’d love to have your assistance! Just email us at rentonhelpers@parkrun.com and we’ll put you on our volunteer roster.

A few notable partnership runs:
