Softball: Sanchez leads Eagles to win, Liberty and Hazen fall

Juanita 12, Liberty 3

Liberty took an early lead, but ultimately fell to Juanita 12-3 Wednesday.

The Patriots (3-5 overall, 0-2 league) led 2-1 after the first inning, but the Rebels came back to win. Juanita scored seven runs in the seventh inning.

Kate Faoro went 3-3 with a run scored for Liberty. Montessa Califano went 1-2 with a double, two runs and two steals.

Highline 2, Hazen 1

Hazen came up on the wrong end of a pitching duel, losing 2-1 to Higline Wednesday.

The Highlanders (2-7, 2-4) trailed for six innings until tying the game at 1-1 in the top of the seventh. But Highline responded and scored the winning run in the bottom of the inning.

Becca Erb pitched and took the loss despite giving up just four hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Danielle Martin, Becca Marco, Chelsea Moorehead, Kellie Pederson, Erb, Kelsey Knauss and Belle Reed each collected one hit for Hazen.

Lindbergh 10, Renton 0

Maniqua Sanchez allowed no hits through four innings and led Lindbergh to a 10-0 win against Renton Wednesday.

The Eagles (5-1, 5-1) are now tied with Mount Rainier for second in the Seamount.

Sanchez allowed just one baserunner, on a walk, and struck out 12 batters in the game. She also went 2-3 with two RBIs from the plate.

Casey Routos went 2-3 with a double and a triple. She pitched one inning.

Renton (0-3, 0-3) failed to score a run for the first time this season.
