The Renton co-ed tennis team is looking to continue improving in 2008.

“We’re working at it, getting there,” said Renton coach Tony Collins. “We’re having fun playing tennis.”

Justin Wu will play in the first boys singles spot for the Indians, while Chris Lee will play in the second spot. Jan Ramos and Ted Bui form the boys doubles team. Adina Sounthala will play in the first girls singles spot, Heidi Saechao in the second. Sinear Sadong and Hailey Corson form the girls doubles team.

“She’s [Sounthala] great on the baselines,” Collins said. “We’re working on returns.”

Aimee Poquiz and Tim Ho for the mixed doubles team.

Collins described all of his players the same way: hardworking. He said the team is getting better and he only wishes the players would be a little more aggressive on the court.

“These are the nicest people you’ll ever meet,” Collins said. “I try to tell them to get meaner.”

The Indians split their first two matches, beating Tyee 6-0 and losing to Hazen 6-1. Saechao was 2-0 in her first two matches and scored Renton’s only point in the match against the Highlanders.
