Renton High’s Brandon Schaefer has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Evergreen State College.

Schaefer plays defender and midfielder for the Indians (2-5 overall) and for his club team, the Highline Heat.

Schaefer said he is willing to play any position for the Geoducks, “As long as I get to play.”

Schaefer was looking at other area schools as well, but visits to the Evergreen campus made the decision easier. Schaefer plans to major in computer science and felt Evergreen was the best place to pursue that.

“I’m just happy he made his decision based on academics,” said Duane Schaefer, Brandon’s father.

The Geoducks finished at 7-10-1 overall and 6-7-1 in league play and in fourth place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Schaefer and the Indians play next against Hazen (5-2) on April 15.
