The Hazen girls soccer team took over sole possession of the Seamount lead with a 4-0 win against Lindbergh under pouring rain Thursday night.

The Highlanders (10-3-1 overall, 5-0 Seamount) bounced back from losing 4-2 to the Eagles earlier this season. Hazen also fell to Kennedy that week.

“That was an awful week for us.  First Lindbergh and then Kennedy smacked us around.  We were at the bottom looking up,” said Hazen Coach Ken Matthews.

Since that loss to Kennedy, Hazen has won seven straight, outscoring opponents 32-1.

Thursday night Cindy Hanson scored the first goal at 32 minutes with an assist from Chelsea Delgado. Twelve minutes into the second half, Hanson assisted on a Brianne Sherin goal. At 70 minutes, Delgado scored on an assist by Courtney Kitely. Four minutes later, Sherin scored her second goal on an assist by Dee Dee Green. Cameron Devereux earned the shutout in goal.

Hazen plays a key game against Kennedy Oct. 23 at Starfire at 6 p.m., then finishes the regular season against Tyee Oct. 25.

Lindbergh (8-3, 4-1) stands in second place in the Seamount after the loss. The Eagles play Renton Oct. 23 and Highline Oct. 25 to finish the regular season.

Lindbergh can clinch the first Seamount 2A playoff seed with a win against Renton.
