Baseball: Liberty beats Mercer Island, increases KingCo lead to two games

Liberty put up a big fourth inning to beat Mercer Island 7-4 Friday.

The Patriots (11-2 overall, 10-2 league) now hold a two-game lead in the KingCo 3A/2A over Bellevue and Mount Si.

Mercer Island led 4-2 after three innings, but Liberty scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning.

John McLeod started and pitched 6.1 innings. McLeod improved to 5-0 on the season after getting the win.

Dan Eck earned the save for the Patriots.

Troy Askins went 1-2 with a double, an RBI and two steals. Eric Etter went 1-3 with a triple, a steal and an RBI.
