Eelco Egbertus Floor

Eelco “Co” Egbertus Floor

Eelco passed early Saturday morning at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Wormerveer, Holland, on March 4th, 1927 to Jan and Wilhelmina Floor. He was the second of 5 children – sister Ria, brothers Nol, Dick and Wim. He attended MTS in Amsterdam, Holland, where he received his engineering degree. He met his loving wife Willy Kohler while playing in his band at the Oddfellows Club on his 22nd birthday and they were married on July 26, 1952. They immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1952 where their sons Cornelis (Neil) and Robert were born. Eelco then received an opportunity to work for Boeing in 1957, and moved to the Seattle area, where daughters Marietta and Yolanda were born. Eelco retired from Boeing in 1990 after 30 years. After his retirement, Eelco and Willy traveled extensively throughout the world. Our enduring memories of Eelco will always be his incredible work ethic, love of beautiful music, and his amazing talent on the piano which extended throughout his life. Eelco was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts, Blue Bells, Renton Elks, Renton Senior Center and Lindbergh High School Booster Club. He was also an enthusiastic boater, fisherman and supporter for his kids and grandkids’ athletic events. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren; Jake, Remy and Nick Sharp from Renton, WA, Carsten and Alaina Floor from Boise, ID., and Haley and Cody Bolithon from Yokohama, Japan. Eelco also leaves behind loving sons and daughters-in-law Chris Floor, Steve Sharp, Leon Bolithon and Jo Pitzer. A special thank you is extended to all the wonderful caregivers who helped make his final days more comfortable. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 6th, 2011 from 1pm – 5 pm at the Maplewood Golf and Country Club, Renton, WA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Group Health Hospice or the American Alzheimer’s Association.
