WSDOT seeks public input for future SR 169 safety investments

An open house to share ideas and suggestions for potential safety investments for Maple Valley Highway is scheduled for Sept. 14

Community members who frequently travel the Maple Valley Highway (State Route 169) are invited to share their ideas and suggestions for potential safety investments at an open house next week in Maple Valley.

While several cost-effective safety changes have been made to the highway that links the cities of Renton and Maple Valley, the Washington State Department of Transportation is seeking public input for additional ways to reduce serious injury and fatal crashes along this corridor.

The open house will be held 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday Sept. 14 at Lake Wilderness Lodge, 22500 SE 248th St., Maple Valley.

No formal presentation will take place. Agency staff will be available to take feedback, discuss potential safety strategies and answer questions.

An online survey will also be available to capture public comments from Wednesday, Sept. 7 until Wednesday, Sept. 21

WSDOT will incorporate the public feedback received and submit a report to the Legislature at the end of the year for future funding consideration.
