RPD searching for kidnapping suspect after finding the stolen child

The incident triggered an amber alert yesterday (Feb. 24)

Renton Police are searching for a suspected kidnapper after a car was stolen with a child inside.

Yesterday (Feb. 24), an amber alert was issued after a running SUV was stolen from a downtown Renton Safeway parking lot at 200 S. 3rd St. around 1 pm.

The vehicle was reported by the police to have a five-year-old girl inside.

Less than two hours later, a customer of a business in Seatac on the 16000 block of International Boulevard reported a vehicle that fit the description of the one that was stolen with a crying child inside.

The child was reunited safely with family, but police are still searching for the suspect.

Those who have information about the suspect or his whereabouts can call investigators at 425-430-7500.
