Renton School District continues closure into Wednesday

All Renton School District schools will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Main offices will be open, but the school board meeting is cancelled.

From the school district’s Facebook page:

“Renton Schools staff today continued to clear school sidewalks, bus zones and parking lots, and the district hired additional contractors to help with that work; however, heavy snow last night blanketed the area undoing much of the work from Monday.

Also of concern is student safety beyond school grounds: roads and sidewalks around our neighborhoods are covered in ice and slush making them completely impassable, and would make walking, driving and bus traffic dangerous.

Snow will continue to melt as temperatures increase, and school and city staff will continue working through the night and tomorrow to improve roads and sidewalks. We will continue to work on decisions for school for Thursday.”

School was also closed Monday and Tuesday. Friday, Feb. 8 had early dismissal.
