Renton School Board honors ‘Outstanding Employees’

The Renton School Board recognized its '2015 Outstanding Employee Award' winners at a board meeting at Lindbergh High School, Wednesday night, March 25.

The Renton School Board recognized its 2015 Outstanding Employee Award winners at a board meeting at Lindbergh High School, Wednesday night, March 25.

For more than 30 years the School Board has honored staff who demonstrate an extraordinary level of job performance, support of students, professionalism and dedication, a release stated.

This year’s award winners are:

The honorees were surrounded by Renton School Board members, coworkers, family and friends for the special presentation. Guests and coworkers offered personal anecdotes and professional praise.

At Renton Academy, Ilgenfritz was noted for being committed, skilled and collaborative with coworkers and dedicated to students. Hazen’s Pollard was said to provide thought-provoking and hands-on instruction for students, with steady guidance. Meadow Crest Principal Farnsworth is known for being a great listener, facilitator and motivator, creating a culture of trust and inclusiveness at the school. Dr. Elaine Love, of Nelsen Middle School, is known for her positive and collaborative spirit and deep commitment to student learning. District Assessment Coordinator James Harrington is known for being the humble team player who takes a “can-do approach” to providing technology assistance to classrooms, schools and departments.

There were more than 30 district staff members nominated for this year’s awards. A selection committee, consisting of School Board members, last year’s winners and others, evaluated each nominee based on information presented on applications and letters of support. The district calls this year’s award winners consummate professionals, with a high level of skill, competence and character.
