Renton Police investigate downtown shooting that killed one, injured six more

Police say they found 100 spent bullet casings at the scene of the shooting.

The Renton Police Department has released new details regarding a shooting that occured in the early morning on July 23 that left at least one dead and several others injured.

Just before 1 am on July 23, police received the first of many 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of S 2nd St and Logan Ave S, outside a rental venue in downtown Renton.

Responding officers identified multiple shooting victims. Police also reportedly had to control a large agitated crowd as they tried to help the shooting victims.

Because of the large crowd, responders tried to move a severely injured man to a more secured location. The 32-year-old Tacoma man later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say six other people were victimized by gun shots, and while some were hospitalized, all are expected to recover.

Multiple other departments including Kent Police Department, Auburn Police Department, Des Moines Police, Federal Way Police Department and Tukwila Police were called to assist in dispersing the agitated crowd so an investigation could be conducted.

During the investigation police found four handguns, several magazines, and over 100 expended shell casings.

Witnesses told police the gunfight was started by an argument. No arrests have been made.

Police are looking for any video recordings of the incident to help their investigation.
