Public’s tips lead to arrest of burglar

The suspect was identified after a TV station aired footage from a home he burglarized.

Police on Friday arrested a 39-year-old Renton man after he was identified in numerous tips from concerned citizens.

The suspect had allegedly burglarized a home in the Renton Highlands on Feb. 11, fleeing the residence just as school age kids of the family living there returned home. The homeowner’s video surveillance system captured footage of the burglary and the suspect’s subsequent escape.

After portions of that video were aired by a local television station, Detective Tracie Jarratt received multiple tips identifying the suspect. Jarratt was able to confirm the suspect’s identity, and a Detective Sergeant and a Patrol Officer arrested the man outside his residence on Friday.

The Renton Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in making this arrest possible.
