Motorcyclist dies in early morning collision in Renton

Speed served as a potential factor in the collision, according to the police department.

A motorcyclist died in Renton on Aug. 8 after colliding with a vehicle at the intersection of Northeast 4th Street and Duvall Avenue Northeast.

First responders pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

According to the Renton Regional Fire Authority, Renton Fire and King County Medic One units dispatched at approximately 7:30 a.m. Aug. 8 to report of a motorcycle-vehicle crash.

According to the Renton Police Department, the motorcyclist collided with a vehicle in the intersection taking a left turn in front of him, launching him from his bike and into a pole.

First responders arrived to find the motorcyclist down and started performing triage, attempting lifesaving measures on him, according to the fire department. They pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

Medics checked additional persons involved in the crash, with no further care needed.

Speed served as a potential factor in the collision, according to the police department.

“Witnesses stated they did see the motorcycle speeding and possibly trying to pass a car at the time of the accident,” according to an email from Sandra Havlik, public information officer for the Renton Police Department.

According to the police department, the driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene.

Investigation into the collision continues.
