Man on crutches robbed, beaten unconscious at park and ride in Renton

A Federal Way man was beaten and robbed at the Metro Transit park and ride, 205 S. Seventh St., on Feb. 1.

The 29-year-old man, who was on crutches, was approached by two men asking for a cigarette. The man pulled out a cigarette. But he dropped his lighter and the two men grabbed him from behind and put him in a neck lock. The man fought back with his crutches, but the two men took them away and beat him unconscious.

When he revived, he discovered they took his new i-Phone and $65 in cash.

A Seattle man came to the man’s aid and drove him to the hospital.

Police were unable to locate the man’s crutches or the suspects.

Man found sleeping in Rite Aid

Police found an elderly man sleeping inside a closed Rite Aid store on Feb. 2.

An alarm went off at the store, 601 S. Grady Way, just before 11 p.m.

After initially not seeing anything unusual, officers spotted the 64-year-old wearing what appeared to be pajamas and smoking a cigarette in the rear of the store. While police waited outside for the store manager to arrive with store keys, the elderly man laid down on a pillow and covered himself with his jacket.

At about midnight, officers and the store manager confronted the man. He didn’t explain why he was in the store without permission or how he got inside.

The man was arrested for criminal trespass and transported to Renton City Jail.

Renton man turns in stolen guns

A 49-year-old Renton man turned in stolen guns to police on Jan. 23.

At first the man said his son bought the guns from an unknown man and he was worried that they were stolen, so he checked with police. Police confirmed the guns were stolen near Orting or Buckley.

Police contacted the man again by phone and he admitted he lied about them being his son’s. He said he bought them from a friend of his ex-girlfriend, but refused to give any more information.

He asked to be put in protective custody, saying, “These guys are going to kill me. They sell massive amounts of drugs and have guns. I just want to give you the guns and do the right thing.”

The man turned in the guns at the Police Department at Renton City Hall. He wasn’t cooperative; the guns were booked into evidence.

Man exposes self to 15-year-old girl

A man exposed himself to a 15-year-old Renton girl on Jan. 31 in the 12600 block of Southeast 168th Street.

At about 3 p.m., the girl was walking her dog east on the south side of the street when she noticed a man walking south on a side street onto 168th Street. He crossed the street and approached her, stopping in front of her.

He asked her, “Have you ever been in a school play before?”

She told him no and then noticed he was holding his genitals in his right hand. Disgusted, she walked past the suspect, who yelled after her asking if she has ever seen anything like that before.

Police advised her to contact them if she sees him again.

Teenager assaulted at Gene Coulon

A 16-year-old boy was assaulted at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park on Jan. 30.

At about 2:30 p.m., the boy was walking along the trail in the North Beach area of the park, when he decided to sit down at a picnic table. He was then approached by about six people. One of the people in the group yelled at him, asking him where he was from and called him racial slurs. The suspect then took off his shirt and pushed the boy back down on the bench and tried to choke him. The boy then punched the man in the face and the boy fled.
