Man, 56, dies in Renton shooting

A 56-year-old man died in Renton on Oct. 28 as a result of a shooting.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, 56-year-old James Tatum died in Renton on Oct. 28 as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. The medical examiner’s office identified the manner of Tatum’s death as homicide.

Renton police were dispatched to the 100 block of Logan Avenue South at approximately 3:16 p.m. Oct. 28 after receiving a call regarding a gunshot wound victim.

According to an email from Meeghan Black, communications and engagement manager for the Renton Police Department, several shots were fired in an altercation at Chase Bank in the incident.

First responders treated a man at the scene for injuries suffered in the shooting. The man died at the scene.

Detectives arrived at the scene, recovering four weapons and interviewing all involved parties, including several witnesses, according to Black’s email. Investigation into the incident continues, with detectives processing evidence, awaiting ballistics testing results, and following up on leads, Black said.
