Fire forces family, pets from home in Fairwood

The American Red Cross is helping a Fairwood family find a place to stay today after a fire just before noon damaged their home.

An adult and four children lived in the home, along with several birds and dogs. There were no injuries; cause is under investigation by the King County Fire Investigations Unit.

Smoke and flames were coming from the second floor of the family’s home, 16612 132nd Pl. S.E., when fire crews arrived just before noon on Friday. It took about 20 minutes for crews to put out the fire.

Responding to the fire were four engines trucks, one ladder truck and a Medic One aid unit. Mutual aid was provided by the Kent Fire Department.

King County Animal Control is taking care of the family pets.
