Excessive heat warning issued for Thursday through Saturday

Officials are predicting temperatures from the mid-80s into the lower 90s on Thursday, upper 80s to mid 90s on Friday and Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for our area, in effect from 2 p.m. Thursday to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The excessive heat watch is no longer in effect.

Officials are predicting temperatures from the mid-80s into the lower 90s on Thursday, upper 80s to mid 90s on Friday and Saturday. Friday will probably be the hottest day of the three, but Saturday could be about the same.

The weather will impact sensitive groups like the elderly and those working or exercising outdoors may experience adverse health effects such as dehydration or heat-related illness.

Precautionary/preparedness actions

An excessive heat warnings means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur, creating a situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids (not alcohol), seek an air-conditioned place, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Never leave children, pets, or the elderly unattended in a parked vehicle under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
