Fundraising concert March 12 at Carco

The Manuiki Foundation, a nonprofit whose mission is to “perpetuate and preserve the Hawaiian culture,” is co-sponsoring a concert to raise funds to support their scholarships, workshops and other programs. The concert will feature slack key guitarists.

The show starts at 4 p.m., March 12 at Carco Theater, 1717 SE Maple Valley Hwy. The lobby will have vendors and food from 2 p.m. and the theater doors will open at 3 p.m. with pre-show entertainment. General admission is $35 and can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2750130.

Gala on March 18

REACH is hosting “A Night of Hope,” a gala, at 5:30, March 18 at Renton Pavilion, 233 Burnett Ave. S. Tickets are $50 per person or $400 for a table of eight. There will be entertainment, a silent auction and a dessert dash.

Annual pancake breakfast

Seniors are invited to the annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at the Renton Senior Activity Center.

Knights of Columbus members from St. Anthony and St. Stephen the Martyr Parishes will prepare and serve the breakfast.

Community forums begin Monday

Renton School District is hosting a series of community forums with Superintendent-elect Damien Pattenadude. The forums are created to discuss what families and community “are proud of, what should be sustained in schools, what needs attention and can be improved, as well as hearing the expectations, hopes and wishes for a successful education system.”

The forums are scheduled for:

• 6 – 7 p.m., March 6 at Lindbergh High School (cafeteria), 16426 128th Ave SE.

• 6 – 7 p.m., March 7 at Renton High School (commons), 400 S. Second St.

• 6 – 7 p.m., March 13 at Hazen High School (auditorium), 1101 Hoquiam Ave NE.

New Evergreen Market location

The Evergreen Market announced late February that they will be opening a new store in spring 2017.

The new store is in the IKEA District at 4242 E. Valley Road.

It will include a retail store as well as the company’s new corporate offices, according to a media release.

The Evergreen Market opened the first cannabis store in Renton in 2015. Its second location is in Auburn.

New senior living facility coming soon

Village Concepts announced it will be opening a new retirement and assisted living facility in Fairwood.

The facility will be 83 units and will overlook the ninth hole of the Fairwood Golf & Country Club.

According to a media release, it is set to break ground in early 2018.
