Eleven students injured in two school bus accident Friday morning

All injuries are minor, accident is being investigated.

Eleven students and a bus driver suffered “minor-to-moderate injuries” this morning in an accident involving two Renton School District buses.

According to the district, the 11 students were transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Another 10 students were picked up by parents. The driver of one of the buses was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to a press release from the district, two RSD buses were transporting students to Lakeridge Elementary School from Creston Point and Sunset View apartments.

At about 9: 40 a.m. in the 2100 block of Southwest Sunset Boulevard, the lead bus stopped at a student pick-up point at Sunset View Apartments and the second bus did not, hitting the bus in front.

Most students were moved to another bus and continued to school.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Washington State Police.
