The Lindbergh High School community came together Sunday night at a candlelight vigil to remember Jessica Scholl, who was killed Friday morning in her home.

A person of interest in what Renton Police are calling a homicide is her former boyfriend,  Jarod T. Lane, 19, of Renton.

Her family released the following statement this weekend.

“On behalf of Jessica Scholl’s entire family, we want to thank everyone for their outpouring of support.  Your prayers and thoughts have brought us comfort during this time of tragedy.  We want to thank Jessica’s classmates and teachers and all of our friends for helping us remember her.  We are especially grateful to the Renton Police and Fire Departments for their response and thoroughness in their work.

“We request the media respect Jessica’s family until further notice, by giving us the privacy and time needed to heal.  At this time, there will be no further comments from the family.”
