A local law firm is holding an art show to showcase the works of artists in the area.
Lawrence Kahn Law Group, located in Tukwila, is seeking artists to display and sell their work in the law group’s office as a revolving art display. John Whitton, director of digital marketing and video production, said they are looking for a “handful” of artists to submit three to five pieces of art that can be hung on the walls in their offices.
“We have a lot of wall space in our office and we have been trying to brainstorm ways to engage with the local community,” Whitton said. “We have a few photographers in the office, myself included, and we threw the idea out there that we could connect with the local artist community by doing a call for artists and letting people display their art here.”
Whitton said they want to rotate out the art every three to four months to give more artists exposure. The deadline for the first round of submissions is March 15.
“We’ll have submissions come in and internally, we’ll review the submissions,” Whitton said. “We are doing a juried selection process so everyone in the office will get to look at the art pieces and we will vote amongst ourselves to select about half a dozen winners, hopefully.”
Whitton said there will be a celebration hosted by the law group for the artists and family once the art is on the wall. The exhibition open house event is scheduled for April 18.
Whitton said they will also be allowing the artists to put price tags on their work and make it available for purchase for their employees and clients at the law office. Whitton said the office has many potential buyers come though the office each day.
“I think we are at like 125 open cases right now so we have a lot of clients coming in and out. Hopefully it’s a good opportunity for the artist,” Whitton said. “We really want to make the artist feel special and seen and heard.”
Whitton said they are leaving the medium of the art open to the artist’s preference.

Submissions can be emailed to courtroom@lklegal.com and must include the artist name, contact information and a short bio, along with a digital image of each of the art pieces the artist wishes to submit. The artists can submit up to five pieces each, with only one piece per image.
