Teachers of the Month (April) | RENTON ROTARY

Rotary Club of Renton honors three teachers from the district for the month of April.

As part of their commitment to education and to celebrate teachers in the Renton School District, each month members of the Rotary Club of Renton selects a few teachers as Teachers of the Month.

Lucero Alegre is a school counselor at Cascade Elementary School. Alegre attended Seattle University to earn a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Then she earned a master’s degree from City University in education for school counseling. Prior to becoming a school counselor, she worked for nonprofit agencies: Youth Eastside Services and El Centro de la Raza. Alegre has been a counselor in Renton for two years.

Jonathan Clark is a technology education teacher at Hazen High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in technology education from Montana State University and continued to earn a master’s degree in technology education (Engineering Ed) from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Clark served in the U.S. Marine Corps for nine years and also owned and operated a small construction company before becoming a teacher. He has been teaching in Renton for three years.

Oksana Kryvobok is an English language learners (ELL) teacher at Benson Hill Elementary School. She attended Central Washington University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education then obtained her ELL endorsement from Pacific Lutheran University. Kryvobok is currently working toward a master’s degree in education from Central Washington University. During the summer, she teaches/coordinates a summer camp at a Ukrainian Catholic Church in Seattle. Oksana has been teaching in Renton for three years.

Each teacher receives $200 to be used for classroom supplies, or instructional materials and attends a Rotary luncheon held at Maplewood Golf Course.
