Bindaas ribbon cutting highlights downtown’s vibrant new Indian spot

Bindaas Indian Restaurant Sports Bar & Dukaan has been open for business for several months with its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 22, where guests were treated to delicious appetizers, cocktails and other beverages along with the restaurant’s vibrant and inviting decor.

Co-owners Runika Nandakumar and Abhishek S. Makkar took over the 3rd Street space, and after opening in the summer of 2025, the Indian restaurant and bar quickly became a downtown Renton favorite.

For Nandakumar, Bindaas is like a dream come true, a motif that she had incorporated throughout the space with an art piece saying “Fight for your Fairytale” and a mural by local artist Tabitha Brown that includes the phrase “Dare to Dream.”

Bindaas’ decor is all designed and specially commissioned by Nandakumar, who had custom furnishings and art created and imported, including two auto rickshaws that have been painted and modified into booths. She said that many of the restaurant’s silverware and serving dishes once belonged to her grandmother and great-grandmother, making the restaurant feel even more inviting and like family.

“I wanted to bring the beauty of [India] here,” said Nandakumar. “The food is very authentic and from many different regions.”

Located 811 S. 3rd Street in downtown Renton, Bindaas can be reached at 425-528-7133 and can be found on Instagram, Facebook and DoorDash for the latest take-out deals, sports watch parties, DJ nights and more. Bindaas is open Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and is closed on Mondays.
