Hazen tennis keeps rolling

The Hazen tennis team picked up two more victories late last week, including one over Lindbergh, to raise their record to 6-1 overall and 6-0 in the Seamount league.

On April 16, the Highlanders headed to Highline and left with a 6-1 win over the Pirates.

In first singles play, Misa Takami won her match 6-0, 6-0 while second singles player Elise Wong won 6-2, 6-1. Only third singles player Catherine Lin had trouble despite winning the first set, eventually falling 7-5, 1-6, 8-10. Kristy Huynh won be default.

In doubles play, the team of Kelly lo and Andressa Chan won 6-3, 6-0 while Lillian Mai and MinhThu Nguyen win 6-1, 6-1 and the team of Jennifer Nguyen and Thao Nguyen won 6-4, 6-2.

Then, on Friday, Hazen welcomed Lindbergh to the courts with a 5-2 victory over the Eagles.

In first singles, Takami beat Liezel Villanueva 6-0, ret. when Villanueva had to drop out after she re-aggravated an injury to her wrist.

In second singles, Lin beat Jessica Tiamzon 6-3, 7-5. In the third singles match, however, Lindbergh’s Myranda Dang picked up a win over Kristy Nguyen 6-3, 6-4. And in fourth singles, Hazen’s Chan beat Kauleen Mainova 6-0, 6-0.

Lindbergh also picked up a win in first doubles when Angie Thai and Kate Hebbeler beat gabbie Solis-Lazenby and Lo 6-4, 6-4. In second singles though, the team of Amy Huynh and MinhThu Nguyen beat Sharleen Garcia and Denice Manalo 6-1, 6-4 while the third doubles team of Jennifer Nguyen and Thao Nguyen won 6-2, 6-1 over Anh Ngo and Ania Gridyushko.

Hazen is scheduled to play Foster tonight, Monday and at Kennedy on Tuesday.

Lindbergh is now 3-4 overall and in the Seamount League and is scheduled to play Evergreen on Tuesday.
