Renton Chamber honors outstanding businesses, volunteer

The Renton Chamber of Commerce honored four businesses and a non-profit organization at its annual Business Excellence Awards Tuesday night.

Pam Teal, a member of the Renton School Board and chair of the chamber’s Education Committee, was named the chamber’s Volunteer of the Year.

Teal held leadership positions in the PTA, including Renton PTA Council president.  She’s a school mentor and an ex-officio board member of the Friends of Renton Schools, among her other community involvement.

Voting for the awards is done online. This year, there were about 140 nominees, compared to last year’s 85.

The annual dinner was held at the Tea Palace in the Highlands.
