A 14-run explosion in the second inning lifted the Renton Little League 9/10 All-Stars to an 18-1 win in four innings over West Seattle at PacWest on Sunday.

With the win, Renton is headed to their first state championship berth in more than 15 years.

Renton LL 9/10 All-Stars scored in the second on an RBI single by Alex Brainard, a fielder’s choice, a two-run single by Isaac Lee, a fielder’s choice, a two-run error, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Marcus McCarthy, a two-run single by Joseff Kilgore, a two-run single by Isaac Lee, and an RBI double by Isaiah Nolan.

Lee racked up six RBI total on three hits while Brainard pitched an outstanding game, recording the win for Renton and shutting down the high powered West Seattle Little league All-star offense, holding them to just one run. He allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked three. Lee also helped his case with a solo home run over the right center field wall in the win.

The game ended early due to a 10-run mercy rule as Renton was up by 10 runs after the bottom of the fourth inning, but Renton added flair to even that play in Sunday.

To end the game Morrie Solam, had a highlight-worthy, head-first diving catch to give Renton the win and send the team to the state tournament, which will be held in Lynwood with a date and time to be determined.
