The fourth annual Master Builder Care Foundation’s “Painting A Better Tomorrow” event helped put a fresh face on nine shelters that help the homeless and others in need in King and Pierce counties, including Vision House in the Renton Highlands.

Since 2005, “Painting A Better Tomorrow,” a project of the Master Builders Care Foundation’s Shelter Care program, has painted and done minor repairs for non-profit organizations, mostly homeless shelters, in Seattle, Bellevue, Everett and other locations in the two-county area.

More than 200 volunteers participated in the event Nov. 1.

“It’s like giving a person a big hug with a paint brush,” said Joan Kartak, the event’s chair.
