The very first Renton Dragon Dash took off Saturday, April 15 beneath the statue of Erasmus the Rooftop Dragon on Wells Avenue.

A crowd of 5K and 10K runners and walkers and spectators — some dressed up as dragons, Vikings and medieval knights — gathered between 9 and 10 a.m., when the dash began.

Put on by the Renton Recreation Department, the Dragon Dash started with a tale of Erasmus the Dragon and a reminder of the Dragon Scavenger Hunt, which began on April 1. One egg has already been found by the Blythe family, which includes Ash, Samuel and their daughter, Adeline.
