On Thursday evening, emergency sirens were a good sound to hear.

Law enforcement officers and first responders across King County hosted parades at local hospitals to show support and thank the frontline workers for their service during the ongoing COVID-19 global health crisis.

A motorcade of Renton Regional Fire Authority fire engines, Renton police cars, Tri-Med ambulances and first responder vehicles blared emergency sires and flash their lights as they paraded outside of Valley Medical Center in Renton on April 16.

Fire Chief Rick Marshall spoke about the bravery and heroism of these individuals and their dedication to taking care of the community, and many of the healthcare workers donned their own signs in support of first responders as well, said Katie Lewis, Communications Manager for Renton Regional Fire Authority.

“The experience was truly humbling and goes to show our community is in full support of each other,” Lewis added.

‘Thank You’ parades were held at 15 hospitals in various cities throughout King County including at Harborview Medical Center and Evergreen Health Medical Center.
