Renton Rotary: March Youth of the Month

Rotary members recognize three Renton School District high school students each month as Youth of the Month. After being selected by counselors at each of the district’s three comprehensive high schools, a selection committee of Rotary members reviews applications and interviews students to identify those who will be selected as Youth of the Month.

The award is given to students who possess leadership abilities, maintain a good grade point average, participate in school activities and volunteer in their community.

March Rotary Club of Renton Youth of the Month are:

Alex Fortescue is senior at Hazen High School and holds a 3.9 GPA. He has been involved in Gordy Guides, STEAM Club, Orchestra, National Honor Society, FBLA, DECA, Key Club, Drama, Volleyball Club and Leadership, and has received Varsity Letters in Swim and Track, Outstanding Junior Award, Scholar Athlete, Harvard Book Award and JV Tennis MVP. He works part-time at Kumon Math & Reading and volunteers with Vision House and National Honor Society. Fortescue plans to attend a four-year university to major in computer science or computer engineering and hopes to work for a cutting edge technology company.

Kaylee Pigott is a senior at Lindbergh High School and holds a 3.9 GPA. She has been a member of Robotics Club, FBLA, International Club, Ad Astra Choir, Jazz Choir, Volleyball and Track/Field. She has earned a varsity letter in Robotics, AP Scholar with Honors and Outstanding Junior Award. She volunteers with the Friends of Renton Schools and Career and Technical Education.Pigott plans to attend a four-year university to study in the medical field and hopes to become a doctor or surgeon.

Jemimah Caoagdan is a senior at Renton High School and holds a 3.9 GPA. She is involved in Key Club, ASB (Office), Leadership, Volleyball and Gymnastics. She has received Honor Roll, Most Improved in Volleyball and the Outstanding Junior Award.She volunteers with Birthday Dreams and the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life. Caoagden would like to attend a four-year university and is interested in studying medicine.After college she hopes to work in the medical field as a pediatrician or sports medicine doctor.

The students and their parents are honored guests at a regular Rotary luncheon.
