This ‘blast’ is now in the past

Workers this week tore down the old, wooden blast fence at the end of Renton Municipal Airport’s main runway.
The old fence was more than 50 years old and beginning to rot.
The new, modern fence can be seen in the background. It is two-thirds the size of the original fence, but maintains the familiar red and white color scheme.
The new wall will also feature metal panels etched with the depiction of three Boeing airplanes historically built in Renton and used at the airport: a 737, a 707 and a B-1 seaplane.
