It was a beautiful night for a tree lighting Saturday at the downtown Piazza as officials and residents gathered to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to the city.
With help from a pair of local kids, Mayor Denis Law counted down and the switch was flipped, lighting the city’s official holiday tree. Soon after, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in the basket of a Renton fire truck.
Santa will be available to listen to the wishes of kids and pose for pictures from 5 to 7 p.m. every Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 20 at the Santa House at the Piazza.
