No one was injured when a bus full of third graders from Maple Heights Elementary School and a semi-truck collided at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday in Renton.

The accident happened at the corner of Northeast Fourth Street and Monroe Avenue Northeast. The semi-truck, with McDonald’s on its side, was hauling product for the nearby McDonald’s restaurant.

The school bus sustained damage to its lower baggage compartment area and the semi had front-end damage.

The school bus was headed back to school from taking the children on a field trip to the Renton History Museum in downtown Renton earlier. Another bus came to the accident scene and took the students back to school.

Parents were informed of the accident by a letter that was sent home with the students, said Randy Matheson, a district spokesman.

The accident is under investigation by the Renton Police Department.
