The Rotary Club of Renton has selected its Teachers of the Month for October
- Michelle McLaughlin is a third-grade teacher at Sierra Heights Elementary School.
She’s been in the Renton School District for 24 years.
She graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in English. She continued her education at Lesley University, earning a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
McLaughlin taught for a short period in the Highline School District before teaching in Renton.
- Joyce Greer is a third-grade teacher at Cascade Elementary School.
Before becoming a teacher, she worked as a secretary in a contractors office and in a law office in Montana. She also worked as a paraeducator.
Greer graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. She then graduated from City University with a master’s degree in teaching.
She’s been in the Renton School District for five years.
- Chris Robson is an English Language Learners teacher at Dimmitt Middle School.
She has been with the Renton School District for 14 years.
Before she began to teach, she was a secretary for 11 years and a real- estate agent for three. She got her start in teaching in Arizona.
She graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, where she earned a bachelor’s degree of music education.
Robson then attended the Grand Canyon University, where she earned her certification in elementary education and an English as a Second Language endorsement.
The teachers are invited to attend a recognition luncheon held at the Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher also receives $200 to be used for classroom supplies or instructional materials.
