Renton Civic Theater floods Christmas night, Aunt Dottie’s singalong moved

The Renton Civic Theater flooded Christmas night from a bad pipe in the back stage ceiling.

“It flooded the back stage of the theater,” said Bill Huls, the theater’s artistic director.

Aunt Dottie’s Sing-Along Cabaret performance today (Monday) has been moved to Carco Theater, 1717 S.E. Maple Valley Highway, at 7 p.m.

“The water kicked out a heat detector,” Huls said. The fire department responded, but Huls was the one who turned off the water.

Though the damage hasn’t been fully assessed, the theater is still planning to show the “Vagina Monologues” Jan. 8 and 9.
