Softball: Routos strikes out 13 in Lindbergh win; Hazen and Liberty win

Lindbergh 12, Renton 2

Through the rain and wind one thing was a constant: the right arm of Casey Routos striking out the Renton softball team. Routos struck out 13 in a five-inning, 12-2 win for Lindbergh Monday.

The Eagles (12-2 overall, 12-2 league) now sit in second place in the Seamount, half a game ahead of Mount Rainier. Lindbergh plays the Rams Friday in the teams’ regular-season finale.

Routos went 3-3 from the plate with three runs, and RBI, a double and a triple. Kasey Sporrong went 2-3 with two runs, two RBIs and two doubles. Juli Gidlund went 2-3 with two runs, and RBI and a triple.

Jasmine Bie pitched for Renton. The Indians took an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, but couldn’t keep the scoring going through the game. Renton is in sixth place in the league, half a game behind Highline.

Hazen 7, Foster 2

Hazen had too much offense for Foster to handle Monday. The Highlanders won 7-2.

Hazen (6-11, 6-8) is in fourth place in the league, 5.5 games behind Mount Rainier and 1.5 ahead of Highline.

Becca Erb pitched, struck out nine and earned the win for Hazen. Chelsea Moorehead went 2-3 with a run, an RBI and a double. Becca Marco went 2-3 with two RBIs and a steal. Brittney Burlow went 2-3 with an RBI and a double.

Liberty 8, Sammamish 5

Liberty mounted an impressive comeback to beat Sammamish 8-5 Monday.

The Patriots (9-7, 6-4) scored six runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and win. Liberty is now tied with Interlake for third in the KingCo, just half a game behind Bellevue.

Denise Blohowiak pitched the complete game and earned the win. She went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs from the plate.

Marissa Jeffers went 2-2 with an RBI. Ana Faoro went 2-3 with an RBI. Alexis Court went 2-3 with two runs. Kate Faoro went 2-3 with a run.
