Softball: Renton wins first game of season; Lindbergh, Hazen and Liberty all win

Renton 10, Highline 4

Renton won its first game in six years 10-4 against Highline Thursday.

The Indians (1-3 overall, 1-3 league) shot out to an early, 6-0 lead and held on to win. Renton picked up 15 hits in the game.

Jasmine Bie pitched the complete game for Renton, striking out three and earning the win. She went 1-3 from the plate with two RBIs.

Sable Moton went 1-4 with two RBIs.

Lindbergh 9, Mount Rainier 1

Lindbergh took over second place in the Seamount with a 9-1 win against Mount Rainier Thursday.

Maniqua Sanchez struck out nine batters and earned the win for the Eagles (6-1, 6-1).

Liberty 20, Mercer Island 0

Liberty took advantage of Mercer Island miscues and won 20-0 Thursday.

The Patriots (4-5, 1-2) outhit Mercer Island 15-2 in the game, while the Islanders committed seven errors.

Amber Smith pitched four innings with seven strikeouts, and allowed no runs.

Jenn Rucker went 4-5 with three runs and four RBIs. Marissa Jeffers went 2-3, Kate Faoro went 2-3 with three runs and three RBIs, Alexis Court went 2-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Montessa Califano went 2-4 with two runs.

Hazen 10, Tyee 4

Becca Erb did it all for Hazen in the Highlanders’ 10-4 win against Tyee Thursday.

Erb pitched and earned the win. She also went 4-4 from the plate with three singles and a triple for the Highlanders (3-7, 3-4).

Kelsey Knauss went 3-4 with three RBIs, Chelseas Moorhead went 2-4, Kellie Pederson went 2-4 with an RBI.
