Baseball: Eric Peterson’s two homers help Liberty stay in first; Hazen wins big; Lindbergh losses close one

Mount Rainier 3, Lindbergh 2

Mount Rainier scored three late runs and edged Lindbergh 3-2 Thursday.

Lindbergh (5-2 overall, 5-2 league) led by two after the fourth inning, but the Rams added one run each in the final three innings.

Kyle Swannack pitched 6.1 innings, allowing eight hits and two runs, while striking out six.

Tommy Kawamura went 2-3 with a steal. Blake Gray went 1-3 with a run and an RBI. Alex Codd went 1-3 with a run. Cal Reahard went 1-1 with an RBI.

Hazen 11, Tyee 1

Hazen topped Tyee 11-1 Thursday.

The Highlanders (5-4, 5-2) have now won four games in a row.

John Wall went 3-3 with three runs, an RBI and a steal. Nick Sharp went 2-4 with a run. Chadd Garton went 2-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Kyle Nation went 2-4 with a run.

Justin Jacobs started and pitched three innings. Nick Sharp entered the game in relief and pitched two innings, striking out five.

Liberty 8, Interlake 1

Eric Peterson’s two homeruns helped Liberty to an 8-1 win against Interlake Thursday.

The Patriots (10-2, 9-1) remain in first in the KingCo with the win.

Peterson went 2-3 with two homeruns and two RBIs, Troy Colyer went 2-3 with a double and one RBI, Troy Askins went 3-3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.

Keegan Bennett started and earned the win.

Highline 12, Renton 1

Highline 13, Renton 1

Highline swept Renton in a double-header Thursday 13-1 and 12-1.

The Indians (1-6, 1-6) tallied four total hits through the two games.
