Softball: Liberty wins fourth straight; Hazen and Renton lose

Liberty 17, Mercer Island 1

Liberty made quick work of Mercer Island Wednesday, beating the Islanders 17-1.

The Patriots (8-6 overall, 5-3 league) scored runs in every inning on the way to an easy victory.

Amber Smith pitched, struck out five and earned the win.

Marissa Jeffers went 2-2 with three runs and three RBIs. Ana Faoro went 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Alexis Court went 2-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Jenn Rucker went 2-4 with three runs and two RBIs.

Liberty has now won four games in a row and is tied for second place in the KingCo.

Kennedy 15, Hazen 0

Hazen struggled to put together much offense in a 15-0 loss to Kennedy Wednesday.

Chelsea Moorehead picked up Hazen’s (5-10, 5-7) only two hits.

Hazen is in fourth place in the Seamount, one game ahead of Renton.

Mount Rainier 15, Renton 0

Renton couldn’t keep the magic going against Mount Rainier Wednesday, as the Indians fell 15-0.

Renton (4-6, 4-6) is in fifth place in the Seamount, one game behind Hazen.
