Soccer: Hazen’s season ends in shootout; Liberty falls to Bellevue

White River 1, Hazen 0 (shootout)

Hazen couldn’t have been much closer to a sub-district win Tuesday, but the Highlanders fell to White River in a shootout.

The Highlanders (8-6-3) had hit their stride heading into the playoffs. Hazen hadn’t lost in May and had lost only twice since March.

Daniel Lucier recorded the shutout in regulation. Connor Hall and Jonathan Bentancourt scored in the shootout.

White River’s Paul Root recorded the shutout for the Hornets. Justin Chase, Evan Robertson, Ricky Mau and Nathan Jung scored in the shootout.

Bellevue 3, Liberty 1

Just four days after beating Bellevue to get into the playoffs, Liberty fell to the Wolverines 3-1 in the KingCo tournament.

The tournament game was Monday at Mount Si and was a loser-out contest. Liberty’s season ends at 8-6-3.

Dakota McKay struck first on an assist by Mark Loreen at the 11:00 mark for the Patriots.

But Bellevue responded with three straight goals by Race Sciabica, Mike Kunz and Liam Kelly to put the game away.
