The Seattle Seahawks selected Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry with the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft.
The 6-foot-2, 254-pound linebacker had a distinguished career at Wake Forest. He won the 2008 Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker, and started 49 of the 51 games he appeared in at Wake Forest.
Detroit selected quarterback Matthew Stafford with the first pick, St. Louis picked offensive lineman Jason Smith second, Kansas City took defensive lineman Tyson Jackson third.
Curry gives the Seahawks good depth at linebacker, teaming with middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu and outside linebacker Leroy Hill. Curry will likely take over the starting spot left by Julian Peterson, who the team traded to the Lions in the offseason.
