Renton Reporter Athlete of the Week: Calvin Cakarnis

Cakarnis played one under par for the season and was named KingCo Golfer of the Year

The Renton Reporter’s male athlete of the week for Nov. 2 is junior Calvin Cakarnis of Liberty High School, golf.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Environmental Science.

Q: Name your Mount Rushmore (Top 4) of Movies?

A: “The Hangover”, “Super Bad”, “The Town”, “Step Brothers”

Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?

A: My Dad, Colin.

Q: You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

A: Blue Mountain Dew and Sweet Tarts.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual

A: Talking with teammates.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: Sad People by Kid Cudi.

From the sidelines: Calvin was a medalist or co-medalist in 6 of our 7 matches played this season. He averaged 1 under par for the season. This week, he was named the KingCo 3A Golfer of the Year and shot a 76 at the District Tournament to qualify for state in May. Last year as a sophomore, Calvin finished 2nd individually in the 3A State Golf Tournament. His successes this fall should get him right back into competing at State in May.
