Renton falls to Skyline by one point on late shot in Les Schwab Tip Off Classic | Boys basketball

The Renton boys basketball team fell to Skyline 48-47 in a non-league game at the Les Schwab Tip Off Classic Dec. 2.

The Indians (0-1) built a 13-point lead in the second quarter but Skyline came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter.

The Spartans built a four-point lead until five straight points from Renton’s James Washington put the Indians up 44-43 with three minutes left in the game.

Renton senior Darren Briggs dominated early, tallying 18 points and 11 rebounds in the first half. He ran into foul trouble and had to sit out much of the second half. Briggs fouled out with 1:46 left in the game and finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Skyline took the lead on a put back with 8.7 seconds left it the game and held on.

Washington and Earl Cheatham each scored 11 points for the Indians.
